| DRIVE TO GANGTEY
Leaving Thimphu, the road winds and climbs up to Douchu La Pass (alt. 10,495 ft), the highest point on the journey, marked by the ubiquitous prayer flags and grand views of the Himalayas to the north. From here, the road spirals downward into the subtropical Punakha valley, characterised by bamboo jungles and orchards.
