Villa San Michele is a wonderful old 15th Century monastery turned luxury hotel, which stands on the seven hills that surround the city of Florence. The 19 rooms and 26 suites are all different, some cosy and monastic with heavy wooden doors, chunky stone walls and polished terracotta floors, others with modern French doors opening out to terraces overlooking the city. When you've had enough art and shopping for one day, come back for a casual al fresco lunch, spend the afternoon lazing by the pool, and then have an elegant dinner in the cloisters.
The hotel runs a complimentary shuttle bus to and from the city centre (about 20 minutes).
Please note that mobile phones are not allowed in public areas. A jacket is requested for gentlemen at the Bar and Restaurant in the evenings.
The Villa San Michele School of Cookery in Florence has introduced a new range of courses, to be held every Monday from 10.00am to 1pm, June to October.
